Award Process

PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN & STUDENT APPLICANT

  1. Parent or legal guardian should have an inquiry pending with a Fusion Academy.

  2. Student applicant and parent or legal guardian should complete the application together.  (You will have to sign-up to access the application portal.)

  3. You will need basic demographic details and precise financial information including your previous year tax return.

  4. A list of gifted expenses; those given to student applicant family without return payment required.  Example: grandparents pay for all childcare as an act of kindness and support.

  5. A summary of student applicant's interests and hobbies as well as family essay.

  6. Applications are to be submitted via online application no later than 4:00 PM on June 30, 2018.

HEADS OF SCHOOL RECOMMENDATION

  1. The head of school (HOS) for the Fusion Academy selected will have an opportunity to review all non-financial information submitted by the student applicant.  That HOS provide recommendation accordingly.

FOUNDATION STAFF

  1. Staff will collect and log all scholarship applications.

  2. A committee will review and select semi-finalists by July 6, 2018.

  3. Staff will send semi-finalist applications to each HOS with the Statement of Head of School Endorsement.

  4. Semi-finalist recommendations will be based on the following criteria:

    • Applicant family financial need 

    • Passions, Interests and Hobbies of the student applicant

    • Quality of application family essay 

  5. Staff will present endorsed semi-finalist applications to the Foundation Board of Directors.

  6. The Foundation Board will review the semi-finalists applications, making finalists selection by July 13, 2018.

  7. Through a process of discussion, prioritization and elimination, the Foundation Board will award three (3) Scholarship recipients and will also choose two (2) alternate recipients (should a first place recipient not be able to accept award) on July 20, 2018.

RECIPIENT AND NON-RECIPIENT NOTIFICATION

  1. Once scholarship award recipients have been selected, the parent or legal guardian will be notified July 23, 2018.  A detailed letter will be mailed with additional documents for authorization.  Those not chosen for the scholarships will receive an immediate email and a follow-up letter.
